1. Jon Snow (Game of Thrones)

Jon Snow is known from Game of Thrones as the illegitimate son of Ned Stark and from A Storm of Swords as the bastard offspring of Lord Eddard Stark. He is a member of House Stark in the north of Westeros, where he was born and educated. After his mother’s death at the hands of King Robert Baratheon, he is forced to flee Winterfell with his half-brother Robb. On their way south, they encounter the Wildlings who capture them and take them to the Night’s Watch. There, the brothers meet Mance Rayder, a wildling chieftain. While being trained to join the Night’s Watch, Jon falls in love with Ygritte, a wildling girl. After joining the Night’s Watch, he becomes friends with fellow recruits Tormund Giantsbane and Brienne of Tarth. After discovering that Arya Stark is alive, they travel together to find her. Along the way, they encounter Sandor Clegane, a knight charged with protecting Cersei Lannister and her children Joffrey and Tommen. During a battle between the White Walkers and the living, Jon is mortally wounded and left for dead. However, he survives due to the actions of Melisandre, a priestess of R’hllor. She revives him using fire from the flames of her god, burning away much of his face and giving him scars, including a prominent scar across his forehead. Jon helps fight off the wights and is later given the role of acting lord commander of the Night’s Watch. Later, he travels to Castle Black to join the Wall after hearing that Stannis Baratheon is marching on Winterfell. His true identity is revealed by Melisandre, who brings him back to life in order to help bring about the destruction of the enemy army. Jon continues to serve the Night’s Watch until his death at the hands of the undead army led by Ramsay Bolton. In the final episode, Jon is resurrected three times by Melisandre. At the conclusion of the series, it is shown that Jon and Daenerys Targaryen have a child named Bran.

 2. Gendry (Game of Thrones)

Gendry is a blacksmith’s apprentice in King’s Landing. He is first introduced in Season 2 Episode 8, “Blackwater”. When Jaime Lannister escapes King’s Landing, Gendry is taken prisoner along with several others. He is freed by Tyrion Lannister, who takes him to the Brotherhood without Banners and sells him to Ser Gregor Clegane. Because of his loyalty to Daenerys Targaryens family, he later joins forces with her and her advisors to defeat the remaining Lannisters. After the Battle of Meereen, he accompanies Dany to Astapor where he meets Davos Seaworth. Back in Essos, he saves Missandei from being burned alive by selling her to slavers. Shortly thereafter, he is captured by Euron Greyjoy, leader of the Iron Fleet. Using his skills as a blacksmith, Euron frees him and gives him passage to Braavos. From there, he returns to Westeros to aid Daenerys in overthrowing the usurper Cersei Lannister.
