App State Football

1. Alabama

 Alabama is the home of college football royalty. From Nick Saban to Julio Jones, the Crimson Tide have won two national championships since 2010. When they didn’t win the championship last year, fans were disappointed, but the team still went 11-2.

 2. LSU

 LSU’s Tigers have been a powerhouse since forming after World War II. Since then, they’ve never had a losing season and have only lost five games once since 1960. Even though the team hasn’t won a title yet, they came close in 2011 with a loss against Florida State.

 3. Ole Miss

 Ole Miss has some of the best players since its founding in 1890. They haven’t won any titles yet, but their quarterback continues to improve each game. After going 1-11 last year, he ended up winning the Heisman Trophy.

 4. Auburn

 Auburn took over the SEC when they joined the conference in 1932. They’ve won six National Championships and have been undefeated twice. Unfortunately, they haven’t won a title since 1957. To date, Gus Malzahn is the head coach at his alma mater.

 5. Arkansas

 The Razorbacks have won eight SEC Championships and three BCS Championship Games since joining the league in 1992. However, they don’t have a title under their belt yet. Their first was in 1997, followed by two more in 1998 and 2009.

 6. Mississippi State

 MSU has been around since 1869 and has played in 34 bowl games. They’ve won four of them, including their latest in 2015. Before that, they played in the Cotton Bowl, which is now called the CFP National Championship Game.

 7. Georgia Tech

 Atlanta hasn’t seen much success on the field, but there have been plenty of great players who have played for Georgia Tech. Players like Emmitt Smith, Calvin Johnson, Michael Vick, and Vince Young have all worn the red and black and have represented the program well.

1. Kentucky

 Kentucky football is known for three things – great fans, great food, and great college basketball. The University of Kentucky Wildcats have been a dominant force since they joined the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in 1954. Nowadays, UK is led by head coach Mark Stoops who was hired after predecessor Bobby Petrino resigned due to his involvement in the recent NCAA scandal. The team’s mascot is a cat named Boomwhacker, and its colors are blue and white. It competes in Division I of the NCAA.

 2. Florida State

 Florida State University (FSU) is a public research university located in Tallahassee, Florida. Founded in 1851, FSU is the oldest institution of higher learning in Florida. Its athletic teams compete as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The school’s official colors are orange and green, and its mascot is Herbie, a cartoonish anthropomorphic tiger.  3. Auburn

 Auburn University is a premier American intercollegiate athletics program located in Auburn, Alabama. Founded in 1863, Auburn University is one of only two major collegiate programs founded in the 19th century still operating today. Today, Auburn fields 20 varsity sports teams, including nine that compete at the highest level in NCAA Division I. App State Football

 4. LSU

 The Louisiana State University Tigers represent Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. LSU began competing as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA), now known as the SEC, in 1893. In 1927, LSU became a charter member of the Southwest Conference (SWC). Since joining the SWC, LSU has won six conference championships, more than any other SWC member.

 5. Clemson

 Clemson University is a private Ivy League-type research university located in Clemson, South Carolina. Founded in 1889, Clemson University is one of the United States’ smallest universities. Clemson’s athletic teams compete in the Atlantic Division of the ACC.  6. Miami

 Miami University is a comprehensive research university located in Oxford, Ohio. Founded in 1819, Miami University is among the top five largest universities in enrollment in the United States. Miami University’s athletic teams are called the RedHawks. Their colors are maroon and grey.

 7. Georgia Tech

 Georgia Institute of Technology (GT) is a coeducational private research university located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. GT is the first engineering and applied science university in the nation. The university offers bachelor’s degrees in over 100 majors and master’s degrees in 80 fields of study. Undergraduate students may choose from 17 academic divisions, while graduate students select from 38 departments.
